In Saudi Arabia, according to the latest report from the General Authority for Statistics on family structure, there are 4.2 million Saudi households, with an average household size of 4.8 individuals\u2014equivalent to roughly three siblings per family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite the widespread presence of sibling relationships in human life, they are often overlooked in developmental science literature, where parental influences are typically given priority over sibling effects.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In reality, sibling relationships represent one of the longest-lasting relationships in a person\u2019s life and form a core component of the family environment. They have a direct and indirect impact on an individual\u2019s social, psychological, and cognitive development. This relationship includes all types of siblings, whether biological siblings, half-siblings, or adopted siblings.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Shifts in Sibling Relationship Research<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over recent decades, research focus has shifted from structural factors such as birth order and age gaps to the study of daily positive and negative interactions between siblings.
