A Qualitative Initiative to Address Language Disorders in Children Across the Kingdom

Abdulqader Al Muhaidib Community Service collaborates with Ynmo in a new initiative to serve the Kingdom’s children

Dammam, Monday, February 14, 2022.

Abdulqader Al Muhaidib Community Service Foundation signed a partnership agreement with Ynmo to launch an initiative for the early detection of language disorders among children in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The partnership aims to implement the necessary tools to assist in detecting language disorders in early childhood from the age of 8 months to 3 years across five major regions around the Kingdom, in addition to providing awareness programmes, diagnosing cases, and referring them to consultation services according to need.

The initiative serves several goals, most notably conducting a general survey on the percentage of children at risk of language disorders in the Kingdom, and building a database and evidence base with scientific and practical reference that contributes to finding developmental solutions in this field.

Regarding this, Ms. Sara Al Muhaidib, Executive Director of the Foundation, stated: "Language disorders significantly weaken a child's ability to communicate and negatively affect their access to better opportunities in education, social relationships, and future employment. Early detection of the disorder from early childhood and collaboration with specialised advisory bodies significantly reduce the impact of the disorder and give the child a chance for a better future and life."

She added: "At Al Muhaidib Community Service, we seek to make a positive impact on the new generation, overcome obstacles to make them more resilient in facing life's challenges, and provide them with all the means that help them become active, contributing members in the development of our society and nation. We look for partners who share our vision, and we strive to establish effective partnerships that serve the shared goal of both parties."

For his part, Dr. Fahad Alnemary, CEO of Ynmo, expressed his pleasure with this collaboration, saying: "We are collaborating with Al Muhaidib Community Service because we share the same noble goal, which is the development of early childhood and finding solutions to the challenges children face in our society. Furthermore, we recognise the extent of the impact that language disorders have on a child's life, especially if the problem persists into school age and beyond. The most evident problems are difficulties in using words and phrases to express oneself; understanding receptive language also represents an obstacle for many children, although it may not be apparent unless the child is assessed by a specialist."

He added, "At Ynmo, we work to find innovative solutions to issues affecting children and their families, and to create a positive and sustainable social impact."

It is worth noting that Al Muhaidib Community Service is a foundation dedicated to early childhood across all its educational, social, and pedagogical aspects, offering several specialised early childhood programmes and initiatives in partnership with the public and private sectors. Meanwhile, Ynmo provides a suite of advisory and technological services that contribute to facilitating access for children—especially those with disabilities—and their families to appropriate care services at an early age.
